Body
CourseLeaf CIM manages curriculum changes through an electronic proposal and approval process.
A proposal begins when a user creates or modifies curriculum and continues through the required review and approval workflow until the proposal is fully approved.
Understanding the proposal lifecycle can help you determine where a proposal is in the process and what actions may be available to you.
1. Create or Modify a Proposal
The proposal lifecycle begins when a user:
At this stage, the proposal has not yet entered the approval workflow.
2. Save the Proposal
Select Save Changes to save your work without submitting the proposal for approval.
A saved proposal can be reopened and edited before submission.
Important: Selecting Save Changes does not submit the proposal into workflow.
3. Start Workflow
When the proposal is complete and ready for review, select Start Workflow.
This submits the proposal into the formal curriculum approval process.
Once workflow begins, CIM automatically routes the proposal through the required review and approval steps.
4. Review and Approval
As the proposal moves through workflow, it is routed to the appropriate reviewers and approvers.
Depending on their role and permissions, reviewers may be able to:
The current workflow step identifies where the proposal is currently located in the approval process.
5. Approve the Proposal
Selecting Approve moves the proposal forward to the next required workflow step.
A proposal may require multiple approvals before it is fully approved.
Important: Approval at an individual workflow step does not mean the proposal has completed the curriculum approval process.
6. Roll Back for Revisions
If changes or additional information are needed, an authorized reviewer may Roll Back the proposal to an earlier workflow step.
A rollback does not delete or reject the proposal. It returns the proposal to an earlier step so the necessary revisions can be made.
After the revisions are completed, the proposal can continue through the approval workflow.
7. Complete Workflow
The proposal continues through each required workflow step until all approvals are complete.
Once the proposal completes workflow, the approved curriculum changes are finalized in CIM according to the College's established curriculum processes and effective term.
Tracking a Proposal
You can open a course or program record in CIM to view its current proposal and workflow information.
Depending on the proposal's status, CIM may display:
Use the workflow information to determine where the proposal is currently located and what approvals remain.
A proposal may move backward for revisions before continuing forward through the remaining approval steps.
