Using the Toolbar

Accessing the Toolbar

To access the toolbar, go to any page in the catalog to ensure you are in the correct editing environment (NEXT). The toolbar displays on the right-hand side of the page. The arrow on the top of the tools can be clicked to hide the toolbar tools from view and can be re-clicked to show the tools.

Using the CAT Toolbar

There are three tools available in the toolbar:

  1. Page Info

When the Page Info button is clicked, it opens a leaf on the right-hand side of the page with tools. The tools that are available for use depend on the user’s role in the system. Some tools may be hidden from end users (page owners or editors) and may only be available for administrators.

  • Owners/Workflow - This tool allows administrators to set up page owners and workflows for the individual catalog page.

  • Manage Tabs – This tool allows administrators to create tabs on the individual catalog page.

  • Set Up – This allows administrators or page owners to set up the page title and tag the page with other "metadata" information about the catalog page.

  • Republish This Page – This allows administrators or page owners to republish an individual page. This refreshes the data being imported to the page, including course information, navigation changes, and other pertinent data points.

  • Page Body – This indicator allows administrators and page owners to edit the text and/or content on the page.

  • Accuracy Report – This tool generates a list of errors on the page. The errors captured here are those of "red box" errors (course information that is not accurate, compared to the SIS data for the course), or unapproved Shared Content (content that's been shared on this page, but hasn't been through its own workflow yet).

  • Show Differences- This tool shows any changes made to the page in red/green markup since the last approved version. Red text shows anything removed from the page, and green will show any additions.

  • Accessibility – This tool reviews page content for any potential accessibility concerns in the content, including using bold text as a header, using headings in the wrong order, or not using headings at all.

  • Graphic- This tool allows administrators or page owners to add or edit the banner image of the page.

  • View as PDF- This allows the administrators or page owners to view the current page as a solo PDF document in a new window.

  1. Edit

The edit toggle allows administrators and page owners to edit the page. When clicked, the page displays green buttons with pencil icons to indicate all editable areas of the page.

Clicking one of these icons opens the Page Body Editor tool. Once open, users can edit the text, place tables, and choose other content to put on the page

  1. Start Workflow

Once edits are complete and reviewed on the page, clicking Start Workflow at the bottom of the toolbar will send the edits through the approvals process for publishing.
