What is CourseLeaf CIM?

Overview

CourseLeaf CIM (Curriculum Inventory Management) is LBCC's curriculum management system used to create, modify, review, and approve courses and programs.

CIM provides a centralized, electronic process for curriculum development and approval. Instead of relying on separate forms, emails, spreadsheets, or manual routing, curriculum proposals are created in CIM and automatically routed through the appropriate approval workflow.

What does CIM Do?

  • Maintain accurate and consistent curriculum information.

  • Standardize the process for creating and modifying courses and programs.

  • Route curriculum proposals through established approval workflows.

  • Provide visibility into the status and history of curriculum proposals.

  • Identify other courses and programs that may be impacted by a proposed curriculum change.

  • Maintain a record of approved curriculum and previous changes.

  • Connect approved curriculum with other systems and CourseLeaf products.

Who Uses CIM?

CIM is used by faculty and staff who participate in curriculum development, review, and approval.

Depending on their role, users may interact with CIM differently.

Faculty and Curriculum Authors
Create new course and program proposals or submit changes to existing curriculum.

Department Heads and School Deans
Review curriculum proposals associated with their departments or schools and participate in the approval process.

Curriculum Committee Members and Reviewers
Review proposals for compliance with curriculum standards, policies, and institutional requirements.

Academic Affairs Staff
Support the curriculum process, review proposals, manage workflows, maintain curriculum records, and prepare approved curriculum for implementation.

Other Reviewers and Approvers
Depending on the type of proposal, additional departments or individuals may be included in the workflow when their review or approval is required.

Users only need to initiate a proposal or complete the review assigned to them. CIM determines the appropriate workflow and routes the proposal to the required reviewers and approvers.

How Does CIM Fit into CourseLeaf Products?

The CourseLeaf platform consists of several integration products that work together.

Product

Purpose

CAT

Maintains and publishes the official College Catalog. It allows authorized users to create, edit, review, approve, and publish catalog pages, policies, department information, and curriculum content received from CIM.

CIM Courses

Manages the curriculum lifecycle for courses by allowing faculty and staff to create, edit, review, approve, and maintain course proposals through an electronic workflow. Once approved, course information is available for publication in CAT and other integrated systems.

CIM Programs

Manages the curriculum lifecycle for academic programs by allowing faculty and staff to create, edit, review, approve, and maintain program proposals through an electronic workflow. Approved program information is then available for publication in CAT and other integrated systems.

Class Search (CLSS)

CourseLeaf Section Scheduler (CLSS) streamlines how colleges and universities determine their class sections each term. It involves everything from inputting, editing, validating, and approving to updating the sections.

The Big Picture

CIM establishes the approved curriculum. CAT communicates that curriculum. CLSS schedules that curriculum.

Together, the CourseLeaf products create a connected process from curriculum development and approval through catalog publication and class scheduling, helping LBCC maintain accurate and consistent academic information.
